It can be difficult to find ways to exercise when you have a new baby but Frame, a new fitness centre in Shoreditch, has come up with a solution: Mummy & Me Yoga.
I attended the class last week with my 3 month old and despite any reservations I had about getting into my exercise gear and getting sweaty in a room full of crying babies both myself and The Boy had a thoroughly enjoyable time.
The class involves baby lying on a mat whilst you perform various yoga moves in front of them. The Boy, quite rightly, found it hilarious to have mummy puffing and panting her way through downward dog and the plank whilst looking lovingly into his eyes. Some of the moves also involved him getting the odd tickle so he was extra pleased about that.
The teacher, Emma, was great at making sure that you did not strain anything you shouldn’t but at the same time it really felt like I’d had a great workout afterwards. The atmosphere was also very relaxed so that if you need to skip any of the moves because baby needs feeding then you feel very comfortable to do so.
Frame will also be introducing a creche in 2010 and more classes for mums and kids so watch this space for further details and if you would like to try a class for FREE then go to this page on the Barbican Mums website.
